Meet Dr Christopher Gibson (Dr.Chris) from Hudson Valley Tongue Tie Center and Valley Pediatric Dentistry! Learn about his family and some faves for him!
Where are you originally from, and where do you live now?
I grew up in Andover, MA just north of Boston (I’m a big Boston sports fan ), and that is where most of my family still resides so we frequently visit up that way. I lived in West Hartford, CT for 4 years during dental school at UConn (Go Huskies!), and then moved down to NYC for my residency at Columbia where we lived for 8 years during my early career. Our family moved up to Rye, NY in the Fall of 2023, where we live now. Though we loved our time in the city, it’s nice to have some space again and a backyard!
How many children do you have, and what are their ages?
My wife and I have two daughters, Birdie (age 5) and Lily (21 months). They are the best!

What is your long-term vision for the company?
My long term vision for the company is pretty simple: to continue to provide high quality dental care to families in the Hudson Valley and offer a friendly and comfortable environment for our patients.
What is some advice you can give to any parents bringing their child to the dentist for the first time?
Keep it positive! Young children will often feed off of their parents’ feelings and energy regarding the dentist, so positive vibes are key! We do our best to keep our initial visits with new patients as easy and comfortable as possible to help build confidence and ensure a welcoming, comforting environment.
How did you end up working in this industry?
I always knew that I wanted to work with children in my career path, so when dentistry came to the forefront for me while studying pre-health in college, I knew that pediatric dentistry would be a natural fit for me. I was a middle school science teacher briefly after graduating from college (which I loved and strongly considered continuing as my career path), so I knew that if I ended up in dentistry I would prefer pediatrics.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
– My favorite part of my job is helping anxious children to become confident and secure in the dental chair. Going to the dentist shouldn’t be so stressful, and being able to set a positive tone for a lifetime of dental visits is a wonderful service to be able to provide for kids.
