How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Ridgefield?
We are very new to Ridgefield, but not to Fairfield County. I moved to town with my family — my daughter (9), my sons (8 and 4), my husband Eric, Moose (our lab), and Wild Bill (our crested gecko) — in July 2025.
We’ve had our sights set on Ridgefield for years after nearly a decade in Rowayton. I grew up in Westport and have always admired the charm of Ridgefield and its just-far-enough-from-NYC location that keeps things feeling authentic while still connected.
Why Ridgefield?
About fifteen years ago, on a trip home from Maine (where my parents live), Eric and I took an unexpected detour and wound up in downtown Ridgefield. The Georgia native’s eyes grew wide and he said, “Where are we? This place is perfect.”
Since then, we’ve often pretended to be locals — making the drive from Rowayton for parades, long meals at Luc’s, and high school lacrosse games.
Ridgefield is a warm hug of a town: just the right size to feel dynamic and diverse, yet familiar. The schools are phenomenal, and it’s home to spaces that are the envy of its neighbors — like the Aldrich, the Prospector, and the Playhouse. It’s also home to Millio’s pies, ponds that actually freeze, and a Bernese Mountain Dog parade.
That’s why Ridgefield.
Our family has already been embraced by new and old friends, and we look forward to years of growing up in this special town.
What made you interested in Ridgefield Moms, and where do you see it going?
I’ll be honest — when I was approached by my friend and the current editor of Ridgefield Moms, I had my doubts. Not about the platform, but about my fitness for the role. I was about as new as they come, already working part-time, and admittedly a bit camera-shy.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that my years in journalism, my curiosity about our new hometown, and the work I’d done for my neighbors in Rowayton through the Civic Association could make this a fun challenge. I love storytelling. I love feeling like I belong. And I’ll be learning alongside you.
I hope you’ll take it easy on the new kid, pardon my greenness, and send along tips and story ideas to help this community continue to grow.
Ashley Forte and Michelle Moonan have done a beautiful job creating a community within our community — helping neighbors connect with local events, opportunities, and each other. I hope to continue that legacy and shine a light on the businesses, traditions, and people who make Ridgefield, Ridgefield.
Expect human-interest stories, weekend event roundups, highlights from our local gems, and some fun events for families and parents. This will take a village, and I already have a few friends noodling about getting involved — please reach out if you’re interested!
My little family has lived in Manhattan Beach, California; Richmond, Virginia; and all over Fairfield County — but this move is it. We are home. And I look forward to helping make Ridgefield feel just a little smaller for all parents.
Here’s a little more about me — I’m excited to get to know you, too!
