Revive Your Summer Skin for Fall! | Ridgefield Moms

Looking a bit…lackluster?  It’s no surprise.

By the time back to school rolls around, we moms are running low on self-care.  Even if we’ve had a blast soaking in the last rays of summer, our skincare routine is long gone.

The sun, sunscreen, chlorine and saltwater can all lead to tired, dry, congested skin.  But there’s a fix…and you can get it at home!  We reached out to celebrity esthetician and celebrated “skin whisperer” Nicole Caroline for her tried and true method to revive summer skin.  Here’s the exact routine she uses on herself and her A-list clients:

Double Cleanse

“Trust me, this oil and cleansing milk duois worth the hype! First, place one pump of oil cleanser into dry hands and massage it directly onto a dry face.  Continue cleansing around the face in circles, avoiding the eyes. Next, add a little water to your hands and continue cleansing. Now, add a pump of the milk cleanser right on top of the oil and start massaging into your skin. Finally, rinse with warm water and/or a warm washcloth to remove the oil and milk,” says Nicole.

Exfoliate…the Right Way

“While scrubs are an option for exfoliating, they can be too harsh for some skin types,” notes Caroline. She recommends lactic acid or enzyme masks, like the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask and Shani Darden’s Lactic Acid serum.

Multi-Mask

“Masks are a fantastic skincare option because you can use more than one at a time to address different issues on your face,” says Nicole. She uses clay masks on the nose and chin, and hydrating/brightening sheet masks elsewhere. “Or, simply layer the mask on the rest of the face and neck. (Don’t ever forget the neck!),” says Nicole. After 15 to 20 minutes, remove the sheet mask and rinse off the clay.

Moisturize Well

A deeply nourishing moisturizer is the key final step, says Nicole. She adds: “And don’t forget to sleep!  Eight hours of sleep is the preferred amount to optimize skin health and recovery.” Finally, consider a cool humidifier during the dryer winter months ahead.
