3. Tell us about The Finish, how it originated and where it’s headed
The Finish was created to fill a void I experienced whenever I visited friends’ homes and was asked for my decorating advice. I saw a niche market of people who may not want to hire a designer but want someone with a trained eye to help finish their spaces. So we created The Finish to give people the chance to ask a professional the design questions they’ve always wanted to ask.
Since then, The Finish has created a network of more than 35 designers and expanded outside of Fairfield County to New York City and the other surrounding areas, Columbus, OH, Chicago, Boston and more, This year, we’re looking to bring on even more designers to serve the New England markets, as well as launch in new cities.
4. What services do you offer and how do clients schedule a consultation?
The Finish is a unique offering that provides the services of a professional interior designer, one hour at a time. Created for the everyday consumer who might not have the money to completely hand over their home to an interior designer, but still wants their space to feel polished, the name of the company speaks to the kind of projects the company offers: let’s finish your space. The Finish only sells a designer’s time. Clients simply describe the project and their style, and the company schedules a one-on-one consultation, either in person if in one of their existing markets, or virtually nationwide.
All of our projects start with a one hour, in-home consultation. You can use your hour to accomplish whatever you’d like: ask all of the design questions you’ve been dying to get a second opinion on, or use the time to help your designer come up with a plan for your space, take measurements, discuss budget, goals, and next steps. You can book an initial consultation by visiting thefinish.co and code: RIDGEFIELDMOMS will get you 25% off!
In addition, this past fall, The Finish opened a store in Southport, CT. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday and Monday by appointment only, The Finish’s Southport store offers a decor shop with all the finishing touches needed to elevate your home. It is the natural next step for the interior design company that specializes in making spaces feel polished and complete. Curated by Founders Stephanie Purzycki and Kaitlin Madden, The Finish store offers a mix of old and vintage items to add character to your home. Celebrating local, small-batch, family-owned and female-founded businesses in the Fairfield area as well as around the globe, and even from the team’s designers, the selection includes blankets, accessories, frames, tabletop items, glassware and vases, books and furniture, as well as artwork commissioned specifically for the store with a custom collection from Brooklyn-based Watercolor Artist Lucy Clare Spooner in celebration of the opening. The Finish also offers giftable items for kids and home. There are lotions, soaps, sachets of dried lavender, diffusers and a wide selection of candles with varying vessels, intended to evoke the senses and set the tone for your home. Throughout the year, the team will update the store to offer a seasonal selection.
5. How has this community been instrumental
The community has been so supportive and positive, giving us the motivation to keep going, even through the challenges we all faced during the pandemic. Most of our business has been referral based, so we are incredibly thankful for all the busy moms that have spread the word to other moms.
