Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I grew up in South Salem, NY.  Because South Salem was such a small, rural town, we always went to Ridgefield for shopping, dining and the movies.   I currently live in Sherman, the hidden northern tip of Fairfield County.

How many children do you have? Ages?

I have two daughters in high school.  Jessica, a senior, is 17 and Ava, a junior is 16.  

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the 

corporate world? Please share! 

I’m a speech-language pathologist and own and operate a speech therapy practice, Seagull Speech & Language Services LLC.  My practice focuses on providing online/virtual therapy or teletherapy.  We contract with multiple schools in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine to provide teletherapy speech services.  We also work with many private clients.  Although teletherapy and online learning has become commonplace with the COVID-19 pandemic, my practice has been providing these services since 2012.  My staff and I have years of knowledge and experience to facilitate successful speech evaluations and teletherapy sessions.  

With the current uncertain times we are facing, how can your business help those within our community?

My practice provides high quality speech therapy to private clients who can work from the safety of their own homes.  With in-person, or “table top” speech therapy, the client and SLP must wear a mask and maintain 6 foot distance.  With teletherapy, these constraints are eliminated and the SLP and client can focus on improving skills.  Even in non-COVID times, teletherapy allows clients to work from home which eases the stress on parents who need to schedule in another after school activity and possibly pile other siblings in the car for the appointment.  I understand, being a busy mom myself!  

How has this community been instrumental in developing this initiative/business venture and how can others help to support your mission?

Currently, I am looking to inform families that this option is available for speech therapy.  Seagull Speech is probably the only practice in CT with expert knowledge of delivering speech-language services online.  We strive to provide the best quality service to our clients; if you are 100% happy with our services, please spread the word!
