Meet – A – Entrepreneur, Mia Gyesky | Ridgefield Moms

Mia Gyesky, RISE Brewing Co.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

1) Hello there, I’m originally from London, England I moved to Connecticut 15 years ago following a hunch that I had met my husband on a whirlwind trip to the city and I should give it a go and see if it was love. 3 kids later, different jobs later, and a large move across the country to the Paciffic Northwest, where we now reside…I’m very glad I took the risk.

Tell us one thing people would be surprised to know about you…

2) I asked my daughter for help on this second question as I’m not so great at looking inward – perhaps that’s one thing people would be surprised to know. She told me “I’m a great teacher mommy” so at least homeschool is going well right now. I like to share in my former life, before working with RISE,  before becoming a momma of three, many moons ago…I am/was a solo performer. I am a classically trained actress and performance artist. As most artists can attest, I do go quite some time caught up in the daily duties of life and then a little inspiration clicks and I cannot avoid it and create…the last time this happened it resulted in 400 children in my backyard in Greenwich coming to see a show I had written about dreaming. I secretly look forward to the day that inspiration strikes again.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

3)My husband Grant Gyesky co-founded and is CEO of RISE Brewing Co. The nation’s fastest growing cold brew coffee company. He started it with two childhood friends from Connecticut, Jarrett McGovern and Justin Weinstein. In the early days, I was a proud wife, going from door to door, juice bar to coffee shop, gym to boutique fitness studio, usually kids in tow to sell RISE. Fast forward 5 years later and we now have a National company, they’ve given me a proper job title and Grant and I moved the kids to the PNW to oversee our distribution center here. I head their Partnerships & Sponsorships, oversee events in the PNW and work on digital creative content. As a start up we all where lots of different hats – so my artists training is finally coming to good use.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

4) The reason I reached out to my dearest, old friend and Ridgefield momma Michele  – is Connecticut will always hold a very special place in my heart. I’m still very active in the online forums, facebook groups etc and see mom friends posting about this crazy time we are all going through. I maybe far away, but I’m plodding away trying to balance homeschooling/working/chasing a toddler around. I thought “I’d love to share the RISE love with my old community to help the power through this uncharted time.” So I created a discount code for The Local Mom Networks to share on thier platforms. Please be sure to use the discount code, every case bought, we give a can (or more) to our local hospitals throughout the US. Please feel free to reach out and suggest a hospital of your choosing and we will be sure to get product sent that way to the doctors and nurses on the frontline of this pandemic.
I’ll leave you with a quote that our co-founder Jarrett just recently shared on our instagram:  “if we all rise together during this storm, we are all going to see the sunshine.”
