Do you know those super inspiring woman who you meet or read about that make you feel like you can conquer anything?! Dr. Deanne Mraz Robinson is one of them. Mom of 4, Wife, Dermatologist & Entrepreneur…this Ridgefield Mom covers it all!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I grew up in Hurleyville, NY and lived in Rochester, NY for 11 years while attending undergraduate, medical school, research, and then internship. After stops in Yale New Haven for Dermatology residency and Boston for Procedural and Cosmetic fellowship, we settled in Ridgefield the summer of 2015.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

I have four children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. Dermott – 12, Teagan – 9, Callan – 4 and Garrett – 3.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I worked as an oil change technician in high school. If I didn’t become a Dermatologist, I would have tried out to be a Rockette.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My husband. He is an ex-NLL player who gave up his lacrosse playing days to be a full time stay at home Dad ever since our oldest was born. He has not only supported my career over the last 12 years but has also run our household and always puts our children first.  He was not only supportive, but also hands on helpful in the opening of Modern Dermatology, which my colleague Dr. Rhonda Klein and I opened in Westport this summer.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

On the weekends, after we drop our oldest off at Ridgefield Kempo for karate class, we love to take our little guys to Steve’s Bagel for a weekend treat then for a play in Ballard Park or for a story in the Ridgefield Library. One of our favorite activities as a family is seeing a movie at the Prospector and then getting ice cream at Debra Ann’s.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I am a board certified Dermatologist. After years working as a Dermatologist in a variety of clinical environments, my business partner (and friend!) Dr. Rhonda Klein and I followed our long time passion and opened our own practice in Westport this summer, Modern Dermatology. Dr. Klein and I met during our residency together at Yale Medical School.

We felt passionately about delivering full-service dermatology practice that delivers top tier clinical dermatology for adults and children, Mohs surgery, cosmetic procedures, advanced laser technologies, body sculpting and effective skincare products. It’s something we felt Fairfield County was lacking as we watched people schlep all over the area for the skincare needs of their family.

One of the points of differentiation at Modern Dermatology, and one of which we are most proud, is that when you are our patient you will always be seen by either Dr. Klein or myself at every single visit. Of course, we have a team of amazing staff in the office who support us, but we’ll be doing all assessments and treatment plans. We also want people in the community to know the difference between the level of training and experience offered by the increasing number of med spas in the area and what Dr. Klein and I bring to the table. We’ve seen some things go terribly wrong and we feel strongly that patients do their research and turn to a board certified dermatologist for these procedures.

I am also very active in academia and clinical research. I was an investigator in several research trials including Latisse, Aczone, Kybella, Rhofade and one of the investigators in the FDA clearance trial for Cellfina. I continue to serve as Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Yale University of Medicine in New Haven as well as on the advisory board of brands like Allergan, Galderma and Merz.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

We felt the support of Ridgefield as soon as we moved. We were welcomed with open arms and knew immediately that we had chosen the right community to raise our family in.
